Well guess the moon trip is off for now

Sometimes I just can't believe the things that come out of my childrens mouths.  Today I was in Sophie's room and out of the blue she said, "Mom, we are not going to the moon next week."  Umm, okay?  She then continued on, "We're going to go to the beach instead."  The entire time she is saying this her arms are crossed and her little forehead is creased so I know she is not happy.  I ask her why aren't we going to the moon (seriously, who told her we were?!?) and she said, "I don't want to go! We don't have spacesuits or rockets so we're going to the beach instead!"  Guess that settles things doesn't it?

Wordless Wednesday: Best Friends

Meet Sophie's best friend Hattie.  These two have been best buddies for years now.  Hattie was there for Sophie when she had her skin graft years ago and has been there for her ever since.  She goes shopping with us, to gymnastics, the library, the beach and pretty much everywhere we go.

Random ramblings

1.  My living room is finally starting to come together.  It's taking forever because my husband works such stupid hours and he is the one running to buy the things my dad needs.  Right now we just need to get some trim put up on the shelving and we'll be done with that part.  At least the room is clean now.  Still trying to decide what to do with the 100's (yes 100's) of movies we have.  They are NOT going back in there.  At least not all of them.
2. Sophie and Kylie had their well visits yesterday.  Kylie apparently is blind as a bat so she'll be visiting the eye doctor next week.  Ugh.  I dread the whole glasses thing.  I think they are really cute and everything, but I'm worried about her not taking care of them, losing them or worse yet breaking them.  The doctor also gave us some suggestions for what to do when she has her migraines.  Poor thing has been having them since kindergarten.  Other than that she is healthy.  Sophie is going to need speech.  Not a surprise there at all.  I called today to set up an evaluation, but the lady that schedules it was out.  I gave our  information to the speech pathologist and I'm hoping she can get her in soon so she can get started soon.
3.  The girls bedding from Target came yesterday.  It's cute, but I don't know how great it's going to be.  The stitching on the quilt is huge and I'm kind of worried about it not holding up well when it's washed.   Oh well, it will give me an excuse to buy more bedding later.  I tend to buy new bedding once a year.  Okay, sometimes twice a year.  Thanks for pointing that out to me Walter.
4.  My purse came today.  I was so excited to get it,  it is HUGE though.  Still haven't put all my crap very important stuff in it yet.
5.  Just realized tonight that my drivers license needs to be renewed before the ninth of next month.  Ugh. The last two times I've had it renewed were right after I had a baby.  Both of those times I've gone in with a newborn and the clerk would not change the weight because "aww, you just had a baby, you'll be down to your regular weight in no time" Umm, yeah.  Never happened.  This time when I go I won't have an excuse.

Lana and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Today wasn't the best day ever for me.  My house is a huge mess because of the work being done in my living room.  I am extremely anal when it comes to my home.  I have to have things in just the right spot all the time so having utter chaos going on is just miserable for me.   I took Sophie to her gymnastics class and  I *tried* to talk to one of the other moms and she completely ignored me.  Honestly, I am still shocked by how incredibly rude she was.   So I was annoyed, but brushed it off and hurried home because I was supposed to go to Kylie's school for a picnic today.  I get there and she does the whole 'I'm so embarrassed that my mom is here' routine.   She does this everytime I go to something at her school and I really don't know why I continue to subject myself to it.  I end up leaving early and come home to my messy house only to find that my phone is not working.  Stupid mediacom is constantly doing this.  Finally get my phone service back (apparently service was out entirely in our area) and my phone rings.  It's my parents calling to say they are coming over so my dad can do more work on the living room project.  As soon as they walk in my mom starts pointing out flaws so my dad gets annoyed and I get to listen to them bicker for about two hours.  At this point all I want to do is crawl up somewhere with a bottle of wine and a block of chocolate.  My dear, sweet husband does me one better though and orders me this when he comes home from work instead:

So now all is right with my world.  I love that man.

Is it naptime yet?

What I wouldn't give to be four again.  This morning I took Sophie to gymnastics class, then to the park, and then to the library.  She is still going at full speed, whereas I'm wanting to take a nap.   In my defense I did walk two miles while she was in gymnastics class and had to chase her around the park.  People are constantly telling me that if I had the formula for all of her energy and bottled it I would be a rich woman.  I'm not too sure about that because I would probably drink it all myself before it had a chance to hit the market.  I was able to snap a few pics of her at the park today (am I the only crazy person that follows their kid around with a camera all the time?).  We lucked out and had another beautiful day today so it was really nice there.

Bye Bye Winter

Kylie and Audrey were out of school today so we decided to hit Toys R Us.  We don't usually shop there (we tend to stick to good old target for toys!), but the girls all received gift cards for Christmas so we thought we would give it a shot.  Yeah, there is a reason we don't shop there.  The prices were so much higher and the selection was much lower than elsewhere.  Audrey and Sophie both picked up something, but Kylie walked out empty handed.  Doesn't exactly say much for a toy store when a kid has as much money leaving as they did when they walked in the door does it?  We headed home and since it was such a gorgeous, warm day we decided to go outside to play for awhile.  The girls and I raced in the yard some and then they decided to go play treasure hunt in the garden.  It was such a great day.  I love days like this when we don't have to go anywhere or do anything and can just stay home and enjoy each other.

Ahh, what a day

It's always nice to wake up to a cute little girl jumping up and down on you screaming, "Come on mom, let's go!"  Once I finally managed to drag myself out of bed I thought I would tidy up the house some before running to the supermarket.   Everything was going along well until I got to my bedroom.  For some reason our heating system has not been heating the master bedroom very well so it's been pretty chilly in there the past few weeks.  So Walter and I put one of these in there to help out at night:

It has been doing a fantastic job, but the past few days we haven't needed it so we've turned it off.  This morning I thought I would unplug it and put it away, however when I reached for the plug it would not come out of the wall.  This is why:

Nice huh?  I'm just so thankful that I found it before we had an electrical fire.
Now for some good news.  Target has finally, finally, finally made this in a full size:

To say that I'm excited doesn't even begin to cover things.  I have been drooling  wanting this bedding for Kylie and Audrey's room for so long, but up until now they have only offered it in twin and toddler size.   I am going to do my best to practice some restraint and wait until the living room project is complete though.  Maybe.

Rain, rain go away, I've got too much to do today

*Sigh* It's been pouring since last night .  I know that the rain isn't supposed to stop for quite some time but I keep crossing my fingers that the weather forecaster will be wrong.  My dad came over yesterday to start to work on a project that I have been dying to get started on and now this is going to cause a delay.  What project you ask?  I am having a built in made in my living room!  I currently have an entertainment center that is oh, I don't know about 11 or 12 years old?  The poor thing is really looking it too.  Looking back in pictures I can see it looked pretty nice  decent when Kylie was a baby, but then around the time Audrey entered the picture it started it's downfall.  Since adding Sophie to the mix it just hasn't stood a chance.  Walter is working today so I had this grand vision of having everything pretty much done before we got home, but I guess that is not to be.  Although it does look like the rain is starting to taper off a bit............

Out of the mouths of babes....

Don't you just love overhearing a conversation your little one is having with someone? I do because I never know what is going to come out of their mouths. Here is a conversation Sophie had with her dad earlier today:
Daddy: Sophie, who do you love? (fully expecting her to yell out "daddy" I'm sure)
Sophie: I love Mommy the most!
Daddy: Why do you love Mommy the most?
Sophie: Because she is so cute.
Daddy: Well what about me, aren't I cute too?
Sophie: Oh no daddy, you're discusting (her pronunciation).

And the lesson to be learned from this? Never ask a child a question if you're not to sure you want to hear the answer.

Starting over......

So you may have noticed that my blog looks kind of umm, bare. I've decided to just start all over since I haven't updated in oh, about TWO YEARS! So please be patient with me and I'm sure I'll be boring you to tears in no time!
